McIntyre challenges Joyce to debate

Independent candidate for the New England, Jamie McIntyre, is challenging Barnaby Joyce to a debate in the lead up to the September 7 Federal Election.
It would be an intriguing match-up if Mr Joyce, the overwhelming favourite for the seat of New England, accepts Mr McIntyre’s offer.
Mr McIntyre acknowledges he is a big underdog to win the seat, and even as a relative newcomer to politics, he said he would be eager to face-off against an experienced campaigner like Mr Joyce in a debate.
The live debate would also give voters a chance to get a first-hand view of the two candidates in a public arena, debating the electorate’s major issues.
Mr McIntyre said he would be open to debate any issues relating to the New England  and the nation and he hopes Mr Joyce will accept his offer.
“A live debate enables voters of New England to see their real choice of leader for their electorate and who can deliver the best results and is capable of real change,” he said.

“And I’m sure Barnaby Joyce would welcome the chance to debate the Coalition’s policies and I would my policies, for a better New England and a better Australia.”

Mr McIntyre is also offering screening rights for the debate to any local television station.
